In the early 1990s, at the request of London university Tamil students, the writer Pankayamanalan wrote and staged the play ‘Vazhipu’ (Awareness). In this play, a humorous character portraying a broker for marriage alliances appeared and made everyone laugh and think. Jeyanthan and Dr. Anjali performed in this work and added a special touch to the production.
Later, when the same play was restaged for Tamil community events with the participation of Dr. Anandasayanan, Ranjani Anandasayanan, and Nirmalasinger, a separate scene for this humorous character was added. With the acting of Seranthan, Tharvalingam, Udayanan, and Charles, the character was staged again. Seranthan performed this role exceptionally well.
Following this, this one scene was expanded into a complete comedy film, a standalone work titled “Tamil Manam Dotcom.” It was staged with the participation of Seranthan, Tharvalingam, Ragupriya, Jeyanthan, and Udayanan, among others, and it captivated the audience with laughter.
